What: Italy in 2010 / Here in 2011
The IHC band will fly to Nepi, Italy for 7-10 days, hosted by the local concert band, the Banda di Nepi. We will participant in joint concerts and events, visit Rome and other sites around Italy, and have a fantastic educational experience. Then in summer 2011, we will host them here and do the same in Portland.

Why: What an Opportunity!
This exchange will be a fantastic educational and musical experience for the band. We will share music, meals, and experiences with the members of the Banda di Nepi. These will both "working trips", where we share our talents and music with the Italians; participate in regional music festivals; and hear, see, and taste taste each others' cultures. This is sure to be a "life experience" for Mainers, some of whom have never been to another country.

Nina, our director, and Nick Benfaremo went to Italy this past summer, scouting out our trip. They went to Nepi, met our host band, toured the area, went to Rome and ate pasta.
See their pictures!

Who: Everyone in the band
We hope everyone in the band will join us for this trip, along with their guests. The Italy Committee is working hard to ensure that it will be relatively inexpensive - we do not want anyone to decide not to come because of the costs. Accomodations will be in the local Nepi community, so the largest costs will be airfare and travel expenses, which we are trying to offset with fundraising.

Our Trip to Nepi, Italy

Where: Nepi, Italy - Near Rome
